A 32-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked with sharp weapons in a public incident in Chuadanga municipality. The victim, identified as Nayon Al Mamun, later sought refuge at a police station in order to save his life. He was subsequently rescued by police and admitted to hospital in a critical condition. The incident has created considerable concern in the local area.
The attack took place on Sunday night (26 April) near the old stadium adjacent to the BADC intersection area in Chuadanga town. According to accounts, the injured man fled the scene on a motorcycle while bleeding heavily and reached the Chuadanga Sadar Police Station seeking immediate protection. Police officers on duty then provided initial assistance and arranged for his transfer to the Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
The injured person, Nayon Al Mamun, is the son of Motiar Rahman from Dhingadah Bazarpara in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila. He works professionally as a graphic designer.
Family members stated that at the time of the incident, Nayon Al Mamun was travelling into Chuadanga town on a motorcycle with another individual. When they reached the area near the old stadium on BADC Road, an altercation reportedly occurred with several unidentified young men. The situation escalated, and Nayon was attacked with sharp weapons, sustaining multiple injuries. Despite being seriously wounded, he managed to ride a motorcycle and reach the police station to seek help.
His elder brother stated that the identities of the attackers have not yet been confirmed, nor has the exact motive behind the incident been established. He also mentioned that the victim did not recognise the assailants. The family has indicated that arrangements are being made to transfer him to either Rajshahi or Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
Police officials confirmed that the injured man arrived at the station in a bloodied condition and was immediately assisted. Officers from the Chuadanga Sadar Police Station ensured his admission to hospital. The Officer-in-Charge, Mizanur Rahman, stated that the cause of the attack is under investigation and that the victim has already been interviewed at the hospital. Police have also instructed that a formal case be filed and confirmed that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
