Police in Chandpur’s Hajiganj upazila have recovered the body of a man found with his hands and feet bound, in what authorities suspect to be a premeditated killing linked to a robbery incident in a neighbouring district.
The deceased, identified as Farid (43), son of Shahjahan from Miji Bari in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, was working as a security guard at a jewellery shop in Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur.
The body was recovered on Saturday morning (2 May) from in front of Radhunimura Munshi Bari area under Hajiganj upazila. According to local accounts, a woman passing along the road first noticed the body lying beside the roadside and raised an alarm. Residents soon gathered at the scene and discovered that the victim’s hands and feet had been tied.
Following the alert, police reached the location, recovered the body and later confirmed the identity of the deceased after preliminary verification. Law enforcement officials stated that the condition of the body and surrounding circumstances indicate a planned killing.

Hajiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Mannan told journalists that the body was found bound and dumped beside the road, after which locals informed the police. He added that initial assessment suggests the incident is likely a deliberate homicide.
Preliminary information gathered from Ramganj indicates that the incident may be linked to a robbery attempt at a jewellery shop on Friday night. It is reported that when a group of robbers attempted to break into the shop, the security guard noticed their activity. The assailants then allegedly abducted him in a private vehicle.
The following morning, his body was discovered in Hajiganj, Chandpur, raising suspicions that he was killed after being taken away from the scene of the attempted robbery.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding suspects or arrests. Police have stated that an investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events, including identification of those involved and the exact motive behind the killing.
Officials from the law enforcement agency confirmed that further legal steps will be taken once the post-mortem report is received and additional forensic evidence is examined.
