Armed Robber Arrested in Narayanganj

Police in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, have arrested a man identified as Shafikul Islam in possession of locally made weapons during an overnight operation.

According to police sources, the arrest was carried out at approximately 3:00 am on Monday (4 May) in the Darikandi area along the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police of Narayanganj District, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi, and led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station, Md. Mohibullah.

An operational team comprising Sub-Inspector (SI) Mashum Lavlu and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ahad Mia took part in the targeted drive. During the operation, the police detained Shafikul Islam and recovered locally made weapons from his possession.

The arrested individual has been identified as Md. Shafikul Islam (34), son of the late Johar Ali. He is originally from Kandigao village under Jhenaigati Police Station in Sherpur district. Police further stated that he had been residing in the Hatkopa area of Sonargaon upazila, where he was living as a tenant in the house of a contractor named Kamal.

Following the arrest, law enforcement authorities confirmed that legal procedures are underway to file a regular case against the accused under the Penal Code. Further administrative and investigative processes are being conducted in accordance with standard police procedures.
