Popular Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar is set to unveil a new musical release this Eid, celebrating the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of Shrimangal through a specially produced musical film titled “Ruposhi Shrimangal”. The duet features acclaimed vocalist Rubaiyat Jahan, blending contemporary melody with lyrical storytelling inspired by one of the country’s most picturesque regions.
The project is built around Shrimangal’s renowned identity as the “tea capital” of Bangladesh, highlighting its rolling tea gardens, lush greenery, indigenous culture, and historical significance. Producers describe the work as both a musical experience and a visual journey designed to promote domestic tourism.
The musical film is scheduled for release tomorrow afternoon on the official YouTube channel of Dhruv Music Station, making it accessible to a global audience. The video aims to showcase the natural charm of Shrimangal alongside its cultural depth, positioning the region as a key tourist destination.
The lyrics have been written by Kayes Aziz, while the music video has been directed by Saikat Reza. The composition and musical arrangement are handled by internationally recognised composer Raja Kashif, based in the United Kingdom. Known for his contributions across South Asian music industries, Kashif has previously worked in Indian cinema as well as in Bengali and Urdu music, earning acclaim for his versatile musical style.
Asif Akbar expressed that the song represents a departure from his usual repertoire. He noted that the project is rooted in storytelling, aiming to present Shrimangal’s heritage and scenic splendour in an artistic format. According to him, the initiative seeks to promote the town as a refined and attractive tourism hub, both nationally and internationally.
Rubaiyat Jahan also shared her thoughts, stating that the entire team has worked collaboratively to create something meaningful and visually appealing. She expressed hope that audiences would appreciate both the music and the visual narrative.
Dhruv Ghosh, owner of Dhruv Music Station, highlighted that the idea for the project took shape during a recent visit to London with Asif Akbar. He emphasised that such creative projects play an important role in showcasing the diverse cultural and natural landscapes of Bangladesh. In his view, each region deserves musical representation to enhance global awareness of the country’s heritage.
