The death toll from a multi-casualty road accident on the Netrakona-Mymensingh Highway has risen to four following the death of the easy-bike driver. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Rohan Mia, passed away on Sunday evening, 31 May 2026, whilst receiving emergency medical care at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. His death follows the immediate fatalities of a mother and her two daughters earlier that day.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 BST on Sunday within the Challisha locality of Netrakona Sadar upazila. According to local police reports and witnesses, a passenger bus belonging to the Mahua Paribahan transport company was travelling from Mymensingh towards Netrakona. It collided with a battery-operated easy-bike that was heading in the opposite direction from Netrakona towards Shyamganj.
The impact caused severe injuries to eight individuals. Local residents immediately rushed to the scene to conduct initial rescue operations. One passenger, 45-year-old Nurjahan Begum, succumbed to her injuries at the site before she could be transported to a hospital.
Four other critically injured victims were extracted from the wreckage and moved to the Netrakona 250-Bed District Hospital. Upon arrival, emergency physicians confirmed that Nurjahan’s two daughters, Smriti Akter and Sumaiya Akter (also known as Iti), had died.
The medical team administered stabilizing treatment to the remaining three patients before transferring them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced clinical intervention. Rohan Mia, a resident of Kanchanpur village and son of Amiruzzaman, later died at the facility.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Hafizul Islam, acting as the official spokesperson for the district police, confirmed the four deaths. He stated that the two remaining injured men are under continuous medical monitoring for severe trauma. Local police authorities are currently processing a formal criminal case regarding the accident, and operations remain underway to locate and detain the bus driver who fled the scene.
