Father and Son Die Road Collision

A father and son have died following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a fish-laden pickup van in the Razarhat area of Kurigram, Bangladesh. The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 am on Saturday, 6 June, along the Kurigram–Razarhat–Teesta road near the Koshaitari Shimultala area.

According to police and local sources, the victims have been identified as Dulu Mia (28) and his father Siddiq Sheikh. They were residents of the Bogmari Panchagram area, which lies on the border between Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts.

Preliminary information indicates that the pair were travelling by motorcycle towards the Teesta area when the collision occurred. At the time of the incident, they were reportedly crossing a railway line. A fish-carrying pickup van, travelling in the opposite direction towards Razarhat, collided head-on with their motorcycle. The impact of the crash severely damaged the motorcycle and left both riders critically injured.

Local residents quickly responded to the scene and transported the injured father and son to nearby medical facilities. Dulu Mia was taken to the Kurigram General Hospital, where attending physicians declared him dead upon arrival.

Siddiq Sheikh, who sustained critical injuries, was initially admitted to the Razarhat Upazila Health Complex. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he died on the way before reaching the facility.

Police from Razarhat Police Station confirmed that officers visited the crash site shortly after being informed of the incident. Authorities have stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collision. Necessary legal procedures related to the case are currently in progress.

The accident has once again highlighted concerns regarding road safety in rural transport corridors, particularly on routes where mixed traffic—including motorcycles, cargo vehicles, and local transport—share narrow or high-risk road sections.
