A young man has been left critically injured after being shot in broad daylight in the Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali district. The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 am on Tuesday in the Kalamiar Dokan area, situated on the border of Sharifpur within the Hajipur Union of the upazila.
Victim Identity and Incident Details
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Faruk Hossain, a mason by profession. He is the son of Abul Kashem, residing in Sharifpur village under Ward No. 1 of Hajipur Union.
According to local residents and eyewitnesses, Faruk Hossain was standing by the roadside in the Kalamiar Dokan area in the morning. At that moment, an auto-rickshaw powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) arrived at the scene, carrying three to four unidentified miscreants. The assailants suddenly opened fire on him in rapid succession. Faruk sustained two bullet wounds before collapsing onto the ground. Following the assault, the perpetrators fled the area immediately. Local residents rushed to the scene, rescued the victim, and transported him to Noakhali 250-Bed General Hospital.

Upon admission to the Noakhali General Hospital, medical professionals evaluated his injuries. Due to the severity of the gunshot wounds, attending physicians have advised that he be transferred immediately to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment, as his condition remains critical.
