A private vehicle was severely damaged by a sudden fire while travelling along the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Ashulia. The incident disrupted the flow of traffic on the major roadway before prompt emergency intervention by regional firefighters brought the situation under control.
The fire began at approximately 12:42 pm on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The vehicle was in motion along the Savar-bound lane of the Dhaka-Aricha Highway when the outbreak occurred in the Bishmile area of Ashulia. As smoke and flames engulfed the car, the occupants managed to safely evacuate the vehicle, resulting in zero injuries or casualties.
Upon receiving the emergency alert, the Jirabo Modern Fire Service Station quickly deployed personnel to the highway. Two specialized firefighting units reached the location and immediately began extinguishing the blaze, which threatened to halt regional transit on the lane.
Firefighters fought the flames for more than half an hour, officially bringing the fire under complete control by 1:30 pm. Their fast containment of the scene ensured that the fire did not spread to adjacent vehicles or the surrounding motorway environment.
Asraful Kabir, Station Manager of the Jirabo Modern Fire Service, provided the operational details regarding the response. Following an initial assessment of the charred vehicle, fire service officials confirmed that the blaze started within the engine. Mechanical issues culminating in severe engine overheating were identified as the primary trigger for the fire.
Local law enforcement and emergency personnel cleared the remaining debris from the Savar-bound lane shortly after the fire was extinguished, allowing normal highway operations to resume.
