Woman’s Body Recovered Beside Railway Tracks

The body of an unidentified woman, believed to be around 40 years of age, has been recovered from the vicinity of a railway line adjacent to Nezamapur Railway Station in Nachole Upazila under Chapainawabganj District. The discovery was made on Tuesday morning, prompting an investigation by the railway police.

According to officials from the Government Railway Police, the body was first noticed at approximately 6:30 am by a train ticket examiner (TTE) who was on duty. Upon spotting the body near the railway tracks, the railway staff immediately informed the authorities. Police personnel later arrived at the scene and recovered the body around 11:00 am before sending it to the district hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary observations made by law enforcement suggest that there were visible scratch marks on the woman’s neck. Investigators also recovered some clothing items near the body, which are believed to belong to the deceased. The condition and placement of the body, found roughly three yards from the platform-adjacent railway line in a lightly vegetated area, have raised suspicions of foul play.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased. However, the location and circumstances of the recovery have led investigators to consider the possibility of homicide. Police officials have stated that the exact cause of death, including whether the victim was subjected to any additional forms of assault, will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is completed.

Sub-Inspector Ashish Sarkar, In-Charge of the Chapainawabganj GRP outpost, stated that initial findings indicate the woman may have been strangled before her body was dumped near the railway line. He added that there are indications the body was placed in a concealed spot, possibly in an attempt to avoid immediate detection.

Specialist teams, including personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department forensic unit, have begun collecting evidence from the scene. Their work includes forensic examination of the site, attempts to establish the victim’s identity, and analysis of any physical or trace evidence that may assist in identifying suspects.

A formal case is currently in the process of being registered with the railway police station in Rajshahi. Investigators have assured that all possible leads are being pursued, including reviewing nearby railway activity and speaking with local witnesses.
