Kaila Palash Shot in Hatirjheel

A listed top criminal identified as Yasin Khan Palash, widely known by his alias “Kaila Palash”, has been shot in a brazen daylight attack in the capital’s Hatirjheel area of Dhaka.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:47 pm on Friday in the vicinity of the Rampura TV Centre area, which falls under Hatirjheel Police Station jurisdiction. The victim, reportedly a high-profile figure on law enforcement’s list of wanted criminals, sustained gunshot injuries and was swiftly transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to police and local sources, the attack was carried out by unidentified assailants travelling on motorcycles. Witnesses stated that the attackers approached the scene, opened fire targeting Palash, and fled immediately after the shooting, leaving the area in a state of panic. The assault appeared to be a swift, coordinated operation executed within moments.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatirjheel Police Station, Md Asaduzzaman, confirmed the incident. He stated that Palash had attended a religious gathering (milad) at his residence earlier in the day. After performing Friday prayers, he was reportedly standing opposite the Rampura TV Centre while preparing to return home when the attackers struck.

Law enforcement teams quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation. Police are currently working to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack, which may be linked to ongoing criminal rivalries.
