The Chittagong District Police have successfully detained a notorious local figure, Milad Hossain Bablu—widely known by the alias “Chheni Bablu”—during a specialised law enforcement operation in the Sandwip sub-district of Chittagong. The 35-year-old suspect, classified by intelligence files as a top-tier regional criminal, was captured along with an associate identified as 36-year-old Mohammad Jewel Rana.
Following tactical interrogations, the detainees disclosed the locations of their hidden supply caches. Acting on this intelligence, police units carried out a raid in the Taher Bazar locality of Sandwip, where they uncovered an assortment of black-market firearms, tactical bladed weapons, and commercially packaged narcotics.
At a media briefing on Saturday, 13 June, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Chittagong, Mohammad Masud Alam, presented the physical evidence seized from the criminal hideout.
Security personnel retrieved three locally manufactured light guns (LGs), four live firearm cartridges, a traditional curved hacking knife, a heavy meat cleaver, 315 individual Yaba tablets, and a quantity of cannabis. Police also confiscated 11,220 Bangladeshi Taka in cash, suspected to be the proceeds of illicit transactions.
SP Masud Alam confirmed that Bablu has a long-standing history of orchestrating violent extortion and criminal activities across the region. A formal audit of the police database revealed that the primary suspect is currently indicted in at least 20 active criminal cases involving various serious offences.
The operation in Sandwip marks a major milestone in a larger, ongoing counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and illegal weapons recovery initiative. Orchestrated under the direct oversight of the Superintendent of Police, the enforcement campaign encompasses all 17 police stations operating within the Chittagong district borders.
To demonstrate the scope of this synchronized law enforcement push, the Chittagong District Police released updated performance metrics detailing the total cases registered and arrests made across the district:
| Campaign Focus Sector | Confiscated Contraband & Material Evidence | Registered Legal Cases | Total Persons Detained |
| Weapons Recovery & Anti-Terrorism | 13 illegal firearms, live ammunition, and various combat blades | 9 Cases | 18 Suspects |

The district command noted that formal charges are being processed against Milad Hossain Bablu and Mohammad Jewel Rana. Both men are being held in high-security custody ahead of their scheduled court appearances, while district-wide operations continue to target remaining local syndicates.
