The Bangladesh Police have arrested five members of an inter-district robbery gang connected to a series of high-profile thefts in the Sirajganj district. The suspects allegedly specialised in binding the hands and feet of night guards to carry out their crimes. Following their arrest, the five individuals were sent to the Sirajganj court on Monday afternoon, 15 June.
According to official records provided by Kamarkhand Police Station, the suspects were involved in a robbery in January 2025 at the Kamarkhand Technical Training Centre. Furthermore, on 27 May, the same group targeted the Fency Milk and Agro Factory located in Chaubari village within the same sub-district. In both incidents, the gang tied up the security personnel on duty to execute the robberies without interference.
The five arrested individuals have been identified by law enforcement authorities as follows:
Sadek Ali (also known as Mokaddes): Aged 62, residing in Pakratala village under the Enayetpur Police Station in the Sirajganj district.
Hridoy Hasan: Aged 26, son of Sadek Ali, from the same village of Pakratala in Enayetpur, Sirajganj.
Md. Sujon: Aged 31, from Baosagari (also known as Basamara) village under the Shahjadpur Police Station in Sirajganj.
Md. Ariful Islam (also known as Sobuj): Aged 31, from Sonapur village under the Singra Police Station in the Natore district.
Md. Imdaduul Haque: Aged 43, from Goprekhi Paschim Para under the Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj.
According to Kamarkhand Police Station, several members of this criminal group are habitual offenders. The suspects Hridoy, Sujon, and Emdaddul had previously been arrested in connection with multiple major robbery cases outside Sirajganj. Their previous criminal activities include:
A robbery at a sugar mill in the Natore district.
A robbery at a cold storage facility in Kesharhat, Mohanpur.
An armed robbery in the Godagari region.
A robbery within the jurisdiction of the Dhamrai Police Station in Savar.
Despite their previous arrests for these serious offences, the suspects succeeded in securing bail from the court system. Upon their release on bail, they immediately returned to organising and executing further robberies across multiple districts.
Hashmat Ali, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamarkhand Police Station, stated that a coordinated law enforcement operation was conducted to capture the fugitives. The raids began at 1:00 am on Saturday night and concluded at 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. The police operation spanned across the Singra Police Station area in Natore and the Belkuchi Police Station area in Sirajganj, leading to the successful apprehension of all five suspects.
