The Bangladesh Meteorological Department also stated that light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in many places across Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions until 6:00 pm. In addition, similar conditions are likely in some areas of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.
At some locations within Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may also occur. These variations indicate a generally active monsoon pattern affecting multiple regions simultaneously.
Alongside the rainfall forecast, a mild heatwave is currently sweeping over Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, and parts of the Khulna division. The Meteorological Department has indicated that this mild heatwave may continue for the time being, despite ongoing rainfall activity in other parts of the country.
For the period from 6:00 pm Thursday to the following 24 hours, the forecast suggests that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in many places across Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. In Rajshahi division, such conditions are expected in some areas.
Furthermore, isolated locations across the country may experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall during this period. This indicates continued instability in atmospheric conditions across the region.
The Meteorological Department explained that the extended part of a low-pressure system is currently stretching from Gangetic West Bengal to the north-western Bay of Bengal. The monsoon air flow over Bangladesh remains generally active, while conditions over other parts of the northern Bay of Bengal are described as weak to moderate.
These combined factors are contributing to the development of widespread showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across multiple divisions, particularly in the northern, central, and coastal regions.
