The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-4 has apprehended a female drug trafficker, identified as Mst Champa Khatun, 36, in possession of 6,600 Yaba tablets. The operation was executed in the Paturia Ferry Ghat area under Shibalaya Upazila of Manikganj district. Following the seizure and arrest, a formal case has been registered against the suspect under the Narcotics Control Act.
The anti-narcotics drive was carried out on Wednesday, 17 June, at approximately 11:00 am by a specialized operational team from RAB-4, CPC-3. The success of the operation relied heavily on actionable intelligence and advanced technological tracking. The arrest and subsequent drug recovery were officially confirmed to the press at 8:00 pm on the same day by Major SK M Sadman Hossain, the Company Commander of RAB-4, CPC-3.
According to institutional sources, the elite force received a tip-off regarding an incoming contraband shipment and positioned an operational unit near the ferry terminal. Upon identifying Champa Khatun as a high-probability suspect, officers detained her for questioning. During initial on-site interrogation, the suspect confessed to carrying illicit substances. Based on her explicit confession and physical indications, the law enforcement personnel recovered 6,600 pieces of Yaba tablets concealed within her custody.
The detained individual, Mst Champa Khatun, is originally a resident of the Moshinda Shikarpara Alia Madrasa neighbourhood, situated within the Gurudaspur Police Station jurisdiction of Natore district. However, investigators confirmed that she had been residing in a rented apartment in the Kalyanpur locality of Mirpur, Dhaka, which she used as a strategic base to operate within the regional drug supply networks.
During preliminary interrogation by RAB, Khatun disclosed that the seized shipment of Yaba had been sourced from the Dhamrai area under Dhaka district and transported to the Paturia ferry terminal specifically for distribution and retail sale. The investigative agency further revealed that the suspect had been systematically collecting illicit narcotics from various sectors of Dhamrai, Savar, and Ashulia for an extended period. She subsequently smuggled these consignments to Manikganj, catering to illicit markets in the Paturia Ghat area and its adjacent localities.
Major SK M Sadman Hossain, Company Commander of RAB-4, CPC-3, stated:
“Acting on a secret tip-off, we conducted a successful raid and arrested a female drug dealer along with 6,600 pieces of Yaba. She has been handed over to the Shibalaya Police Station for the execution of subsequent legal procedures.”
A criminal case has been officially filed against the accused at Shibalaya Police Station under the provisions of the Narcotics Control Act. The suspect, alongside the seized evidence, remains in police custody pending a formal judicial hearing.
