Personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) of India, operating from the Jhalorchar camp situated within the Mankachar sector of South Salmara-Mankachar district in the state of Assam, attempted to forcibly push a total of nine individuals into Bangladeshi territory.

The first group of four, consisting of Sumi Akter and her immediate family, alongside two unidentified young men, were directed across the border adjacent to international main pillar 1060 and sub-pillar 1-S. Concurrently, a secondary group comprising three other young men was forced across the frontier via the Mankachar border near the international main pillar 1066 in the Vondurchar area.

However, the coordinated illegal entry was successfully obstructed by personnel from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and a gathering of local residents. Consequently, the nine individuals became completely stranded on the Indian side of the zero line, unable to advance into Bangladesh or retreat into the Indian mainland.
