The Bangladesh national cricket team has suffered a significant setback ahead of the final fixture of their three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia. Regular captain Litton Kumar Das has been officially ruled out of the crucial match, where the hosts will attempt to avoid a series whitewash. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been sidelined due to an injury to his left hamstring, preventing his participation in the final game.
The decision was confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) via an official media release. According to the board’s medical and administrative assessment, the player’s recovery from the left leg injury has not progressed sufficiently to allow him to attain full match fitness. Consequently, the team management has opted to keep him out of the playing eleven to facilitate his ongoing rehabilitation.
This persistent fitness issue has affected the captain’s involvement throughout the entire shortest-format segment of the tour. Due to the same injury, Litton was unable to feature in the opening two matches of the T20I series. In his absence, the responsibility of leading the national side has fallen upon the vice-captain, Towhid Hridoy, who will continue to serve as the stand-in skipper for the final match of the series.
The current T20I series marks a sharp contrast to the preceding One Day International (ODI) leg of Australia’s tour. In the 50-over format, Bangladesh secured a competitive 2-1 series victory over the visiting Australian team. However, the home side has been unable to replicate that form in the shorter format, losing the T20I series with one game left to play. Australia secured a four-wicket victory in the opening encounter and followed it with a narrow seven-run win in the second match.
The statistical overview of the ongoing bilateral series between Bangladesh and Australia, including the results and leadership changes, is detailed in the table below:
| Match / Series | Match Result | Series Status | Bangladesh Captain |
| ODI Series (3 Matches) | Bangladesh won 2-1 | Bangladesh won series | Litton Kumar Das |
| 1st T20 International | Australia won by 4 wickets | Australia led 1-0 | Towhid Hridoy (Stand-in) |
| 2nd T20 International | Australia won by 7 runs | Australia secured series 2-0 | Towhid Hridoy (Stand-in) |
| 3rd T20 International | Scheduled for tomorrow | Whitewash prevention match | Towhid Hridoy (Stand-in) |
The final T20I match between Bangladesh and Australia is scheduled to be played tomorrow, with the hosts aiming to secure a consolation victory and prevent a 3-0 clean sweep by the visitors.
