After a long hiatus, the celebrated Bangladeshi pop singer Mila has reunited with acclaimed music composer and producer Fuad Al Muqtadir, rekindling one of the most recognisable collaborations in contemporary South Asian pop music. Their new joint single, “Kandari Chol”, is set for release tomorrow, marking a nostalgic yet forward-looking return for the duo whose earlier works significantly shaped the regional pop landscape.
The pair previously delivered several chart-topping hits, including “Tumi Ki Sada Debe”, “Bapurram Sapure”, and “Rupban Nache Komor Dulaiya”. These songs, known for their fusion of folk-inspired melodies with modern electronic arrangements, helped establish Mila as a distinctive voice in the genre while cementing Fuad’s reputation as an innovative producer.
The upcoming track has been conceptualised around football, timed to align with the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup. According to the artists, the song is intended not as an anthem for any particular nation or team, but as a universal celebration of the sport’s emotional depth—its capacity to unite people through passion, rivalry, joy, and shared dreams.
Speaking on Monday morning, Mila reflected on the emotional significance of the collaboration. She described working again with Fuad in a Banani studio as a deeply nostalgic experience, recalling how their earlier songs continue to resonate with audiences even years later. She emphasised that “Kandari Chol” represents more than a musical release; it symbolises renewed friendship, shared history, and creative rediscovery.
Fuad, communicating via messaging, echoed similar sentiments. He noted that the chemistry between his production style and Mila’s vocal delivery remains as strong as ever. He added that revisiting their creative partnership brought back a wave of memories from their earlier career milestones. He also highlighted that the new song aims to capture football as a global cultural force rather than merely a competitive sport.
Production on the music video has already been completed, with the final audio-visual package scheduled for simultaneous release. The video is directed by Miraj Hossain and produced by Runout Films. In addition to Mila, the track features contributions from Pantha Kanai, Bummi, Sanjana, Nigerian artist Olivoy, and rapper Black Zang. The lyrics have been collaboratively written by Tiger Chowdhury, Mahbub Morshed, Olivoy, and Black Zang.
Mila and Fuad have also hinted at future collaborations beyond this release. Plans are reportedly underway for additional songs and potential live performances together at concerts and special events, raising anticipation among fans eager to witness the revival of a partnership that once defined an era of Bangladeshi pop music.
