Three Dead in Separate Incidents across Chunarughat in One Day

A wave of grief has swept through Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj following the deaths of three individuals in separate incidents in a single day. The fatalities, which occurred across three different unions on Monday, 13 July, have left local communities shocked. Law enforcement authorities have already launched inquiries into each case to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding these untoward incidents.

Local sources revealed that the first tragedy took place in Paschim Pakuria village, under the Mirashi union. Jamal Miah, a 32-year-old man and son of Abdur Rofik Kontor Miah, died by suicide after hanging himself at his family home. Family members reported that Jamal had been suffering from severe mental health issues for a prolonged period. The psychological distress is believed to have driven him to take his own life in a sudden turn of events.

In a separate incident on the same day, another suicide was reported in Ujjwalpur village, located within the Paikpara union. Parveen Begum, the 40-year-old wife of Jahangir Miah, intentionally consumed poison at her residence for reasons yet to be determined. Upon discovering her in a critical condition, frantic family members rushed her towards the nearest hospital. Neighbours confirmed that she tragically succumbed before she could receive emergency medical care at the hospital.

The third fatality occurred under entirely different circumstances in Karimpur village, within the Sadar union. A 21-year-old youth, identified as Shipon Miah, was electrocuted whilst allegedly attempting to steal live electrical wires during the night. The high-voltage shock left him severely injured. Alerted by the commotion, local residents rescued him from the spot and transported him to the local hospital. Medical officers at the facility examined the young man upon arrival and pronounced him dead.

Md Shafiqul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chunarughat Police Station, confirmed the three deaths to reporters. He stated that police teams visited the respective spots to prepare initial reports and that necessary legal procedures are being followed. The bodies are being handled in accordance with standard protocols, and thorough police investigations are underway to uncover the definitive causes behind these three distinct tragedies.
