Seven-Year-Old Schoolboy Dies After Van Collision in Titas

A tragic road accident in Titas Upazila, Cumilla, has claimed the life of a seven-year-old schoolboy named Md Alif Hossain. The young primary pupil was struck by a delivery vehicle shortly after classes concluded for the day.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday, 22 July, on the road directly adjacent to the grounds of Ulukandi Government Primary School.

Alif, the youngest son of Md Delowar Hossain, resided in the Ulukandi East Para neighbourhood and was a Year 1 pupil at the school.

According to statements from local residents and school authorities, Delowar Hossain had arrived at the school premises around midday to collect his son following dismissal. He was waiting near a shop situated close to the school gates. Spotting his father across the thoroughfare, Alif ran out to cross the road. A moving bakery delivery van hit the young child as he traversed the carriageway. The impact threw him onto the road, inflicting severe head injuries that caused profuse bleeding.

Eyewitnesses and relatives rushed to the scene and transported the injured child to the Titas Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition. Attending medical staff provided initial treatment before referring him to a specialised hospital in Dhaka due to the severity of his head trauma. Alif succumbed to his injuries while en route to the capital.

Headmaster Md Kamal Hossain of Ulukandi Government Primary School confirmed the details of the incident, expressing profound sorrow over the tragic loss of the young student. The sudden death of the child has plunged his family and the wider local community into deep mourning.
