Bangladesh Launches Primary Registration for Hajj 2027 Pilgrimage

Primary registration for Bangladeshi citizens planning to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in 2027 officially opened on Monday, 27th July. According to a formal announcement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the application window for both government-managed and private pilgrimage schemes will remain open until 24th September.

This operational schedule directly aligns with the comprehensive Hajj roadmap released by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Intending pilgrims are required to complete their primary registration online via the official e-Hajj portal. To comply with international travel regulations, applicants must hold a valid passport with an expiry date no earlier than 31st December 2027. Furthermore, during the registration process, pilgrims are obliged to select their preferred Hajj package, the type of pilgrimage, and their designated district for mandatory pre-departure training and medical vaccination programmes.

Financial Requirements and Payment Channels

The financial protocol for Hajj 2027 involves a structured, multi-stage payment procedure:

• Pre-registration Deposit: Pilgrims must first complete a preliminary application by depositing a fee of BDT 30,000.

• Primary Registration Deposit: Applicants are required to deposit an additional BDT 350,000 to secure their primary status.

• Final Settlement: The remaining balance for the selected Hajj package must be paid in full by 10th December to secure final registration and travel clearance.

For citizens opting for government-managed schemes, registration can be executed directly by creating an individual user profile on the central e-Hajj platform. To facilitate access for individuals who lack digital literacy or personal devices, the government has arranged dedicated registration facilities across various physical centres. These include Union Digital Centres, divisional and district offices of the Islamic Foundation, district and sub-district (Upazila) Model Mosques, the Baitul Mukarram national mosque office, and the Ashkona Hajj Office in Dhaka. Payments under government management must be deposited via authorised bank vouchers at any branch of Sonali Bank. Conversely, pilgrims travelling under private management are required to transfer their funds into the verified bank accounts of their respective registered Hajj agencies, details of which are officially published on the central Hajj portal.

Eligibility Criteria and Health Restrictions

To maintain public safety and manage the physical demands of the pilgrimage, authorities have implemented strict age and medical eligibility criteria:

• Age Limit: Individuals under the age of 15 are strictly prohibited from participating in the Hajj 2027 season.

• Chronic and Severe Illnesses: Fitness certificates will be denied to individuals suffering from severe cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, or pulmonary diseases, as well as neurological conditions, severe psychiatric disorders, and dementia. Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or biological therapy for cancer are similarly ineligible.

• Infectious Diseases: Individuals diagnosed with active, high-risk contagious illnesses—including tuberculosis and haemorrhagic fevers—will not be cleared for travel due to international public health protocols.

• Maternal Health Restrictions: Women in the final two months of pregnancy, or those classified as having high-risk pregnancies, will be deemed medically unfit for the journey.
