Man Arrested in Naogaon Following Alleged Assault of Young Girl

Police officers in Naogaon’s Raninagar Upazila have taken a 32-year-old man into custody following allegations of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. The accused, identified as Nishan Ali, was arrested during a swift police operation on Saturday evening, shortly after the victim’s family formally registered a complaint.

The suspect, son of Soleman Ali, resides in the Ghoshgram Hindupara village within the Raninagar administrative area.

According to police reports and accounts provided by local residents, the assault took place at approximately 12:30 pm on Saturday. The young victim was engaged in preparing fishing nets at her family residence when the suspect noticed she was unaccompanied. Exploiting the absence of adults in the house, the accused allegedly enticed the girl to visit his home under the pretense of handing over a mobile phone charger, where he then carried out the assault.

Neighbours and local residents became suspicious after noticing unusual activity and intervened promptly to retrieve the child from the residence. Following her rescue, the victim’s mother proceeded to the local police station later that evening to lodge a formal criminal case against the suspect under relevant statutory protections.

Confirming the law enforcement action, Zakaria Mondal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raninagar Police Station, stated that police moved swiftly as soon as the official complaint was recorded. A specialized police team was dispatched, leading to the immediate location and arrest of the accused within hours of the incident being reported.

The police chief confirmed that law enforcement officials are preparing to present the suspect before the regional magistrate’s court on Sunday. Simultaneously, the young survivor is scheduled to undergo a thorough medical examination and forensic assessment at a state facility to support the ongoing legal investigation.
