BNP Leaders Declare NCP Leader Unwelcome in Narayanganj After Controversial Remarks

Tensions between political factions in Narayanganj reached a new high on Saturday afternoon after leaders of the Mahanagar Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) declared Nasiruddin Patwary, Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), unwelcome in the district. The announcement came during a protest rally and demonstration organized in response to derogatory and derogatory remarks allegedly made by NCP leaders against senior political figures, including Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman.

The protest march commenced around late afternoon outside the Hosiery Association building in the Missionpara area of Narayanganj city. Demonstrators marched through key commercial thoroughfares, including Chashara and the Narayanganj Press Club precinct, before culminating in a mass gathering near the City Rail Gate No. 2 area.

Addressing the crowd prior to the rally, local BNP leadership launched a scathing attack on the NCP, describing it as a “so-called commercial political outfit” from which constructive politics could not be expected. Speakers accused NCP leaders of resorting to intimidation, spreading public misinformation, and exploiting political platforms for financial gain since the political shifts of 5th August.

Highlighting the BNP’s long-standing opposition to previous political regimes, party representatives asserted that seventeen years of street-level resistance under difficult circumstances had solidified their political foundation. They maintained that false statements and personal insults would fail to tarnish the public standing or image of BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman. Formally issuing the ban, leaders warned that any attempt by Nasiruddin Patwary to enter Narayanganj district in the future would be met with resolute resistance on the ground.

Delivering the keynote address, Narayanganj Mahanagar BNP Member Secretary Advocate Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu urged political opponents to respect historical realities before commenting on key political leadership. He remarked that Tariq Rahman, drawing on more than two decades of political experience, currently commands significant public support across the nation.

Directing his remarks toward NCP leadership, Advocate Tipu urged the party to abandon theatrical antics, extortion tactics, and inflammatory language. He warned that persistent personal attacks against national leaders would provoke an assertive backlash from the general public.

The demonstration saw significant participation from local party hierarchy and affiliated bodies. Prominent figures in attendance included Mahanagar BNP Joint Conveners Fateh Reza Ripon and Anwar Hossain Anu, alongside executive members Aowlad Hossain, Advocate Rafiq Ahmed, and Sadar Thana BNP President Masud Rana, accompanied by hundreds of grassroots activists.
