The Bhola district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has relieved Md Sharif Bepari of his duties as convenor of the West Char Umed Union unit in Lalmohan upazila following allegations of an extramarital affair involving a friend’s wife.
A press release signed by Bhola District JCD President Abdullah Al Russel and General Secretary Noor Mohammad Rubel confirmed the organizational decision. The statement cited specific breaches of party discipline as the primary ground for relieving Bepari of his leadership position in No. 7 West Char Umed (Gajaria) Union.
The disciplinary action follows days of intense speculation and criticism on social media across Lalmohan upazila. Tensions surfaced after a local businessman publicly accused Bepari—a close friend—of maintaining an illicit relationship with his wife.
According to the businessman’s account, Bepari cultivated a close relationship with the woman shortly after the couple married in 2023. The two allegedly communicated frequently via phone calls and WhatsApp messages. The businessman further claimed that when he confronted the student leader about the matter, Bepari issued threats and intimidation tactics to silence him.
Addressing the disciplinary proceedings, Nazim Uddin Babu, Member Secretary of Lalmohan Upazila JCD, stated that the decision was taken following an internal investigation into the allegations. He noted that the leadership acted on the probe findings to uphold the student organisation’s moral standards and reputation.
Bepari, however, rejected all accusations made against him. He claimed that the allegations were entirely fabricated and orchestrated by political rivals seeking to tarnish his reputation within the organisation. Commenting on his dismissal, Bepari stated that he had requested clarification from the district committee regarding the specific disciplinary violations cited in the press release, adding that he had not yet received a formal response.
