A terrible highway collision directly outside Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZRMCH) in Bogura resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left three others seriously injured early on Sunday morning.
The incident unfolded along the key trunk road when a heavily freighted lorry crashed headlong into the rear of another loaded vehicle stationary or moving slowly in front of it. The collision delivered a crushing impact to the trailing lorry’s front compartment, causing immediate fatalities at the scene and inflicting severe injuries on three other travellers.
Emergency Response and Gridlock
Personnel from the local police force and the Fire Service and Civil Defence unit were deployed without delay to secure the site and initiate extraction efforts. Emergency workers faced a delicate task as one survivor remained tightly pinned inside the mangled metal framework of the driver’s cabin.
“The crash caused extensive structural damage to the vehicle’s front cabin. Rescuers had to use specialized cutting equipment to free a severely injured victim who was trapped inside,” confirmed an emergency official on site.
The collision triggered immediate gridlock along the busy highway corridor. The accumulation of stationary freight lorries and passenger buses created an extensive traffic jam stretching over several kilometres in both directions. Passengers, commercial transport operators, and individuals travelling towards the medical complex suffered significant delay and distress while recovery crews worked to clear the disabled vehicles.
