DHAKA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) – Midfielder Enamul Islam Gazi starred with a brace as Abahani Limited Dhaka stormed back from an early setback to thrash Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club 6-1 in the second leg of the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium, Cumilla, on Saturday.
Gazi’s double was complemented by goals from Mohammad Ridoy, Mohammad Ibrahim, Jafar Iqbal, and Mirajul Islam, sealing an emphatic win for Abahani. Forward Sayed Hossen Sayem netted the lone goal for Fakirerpool.
Abahani dictated proceedings, particularly in the second half, showcasing their attacking prowess, while Fakirerpool struggled to match their intensity beyond their early breakthrough.
With this victory, Abahani now has 23 points from 10 matches, trailing league leaders Mohammedan by just three points. Fakirerpool remains in eighth place with nine points from the same number of matches.
In the first-leg encounter, Abahani defeated Fakirerpool 2-0 at Shaheed Barkat Stadium, Gazipur.
Following the conclusion of the first round, the BPL will go on a break for the national team’s training camp. The second round of the second-leg is set to resume on April 11, after Eid-ul-Fitr.
