The Ministry of Home Affairs has executed a major administrative reshuffle within the Bangladesh Police force, transferring 23 senior officials, including Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), Additional DIGs, and Superintendents of Police (SP). Four separate notifications issued on Wednesday, 12 August, outlined the fresh postings and transfers across various specialized units and district commands.
Signed by Deputy Secretary Toushif Ahmed of the ministry’s Police-1 branch, the directives state that the decision regarding these BCS (Police) Cadre officers was taken in the public interest and comes into immediate effect.
Under the new directives, several key structural changes were implemented within the Highway Police, Special Branch (SB), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
Farida Yasmin, previously serving as Additional DIG of Highway Police in Dhaka, has been attached to the Office of the DIG for the Barishal Range in the same capacity. Simultaneously, Mir Moddasser Hossain, another Additional DIG of Highway Police, has been transferred to the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) in Sardah, Rajshahi, as Additional DIG. Furthermore, RAB Additional DIG Md Saleh Uddin has been reassigned to the Highway Police as Additional DIG.
The transfers also extend to district-level police administration:

Mohammad Jashim Uddin, Superintendent of Police for Kushtia, moves to Gazipur as the new SP.

Md Sharif Uddin, outgoing SP of Gazipur, has been reassigned to the Highway Police.

Md Amirul Islam, formerly SP at the Office of the DIG for Sylhet Range, takes over as the new SP of Kushtia.

Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi, SP of Narayanganj, transfers to the Highway Police.

Mohammad Tajul Islam, SP of Khulna, moves to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

Sarkar Omar Faruque, SP at the Police Staff College in Dhaka, assumes charge as the new SP of Khulna.
Several other mid-tier and senior appointments were announced within the specialized wings. Mohammad Shahinur Alam Khan, SP (Supernumerary Additional DIG) of Highway Police, joins Dhaka SB as SP (Supernumerary Additional DIG). Md Rezaul Karim from the Highway Police transitions to the APBn as SP. Meanwhile, PBI Superintendent Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman and APBn Superintendent Dipak Jyoti Khisa have both been posted to the Highway Police in SP roles.
The remaining two notifications finalized the reassignment of ten additional officers holding ranks of DIG, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC), SP, and Special Superintendent of Police across various operational departments.
