BNP Youth Wing Member Stripped of Post Over Moral Misconduct

The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has formally expelled Saiful Islam, a member of its Sonagazi Upazila executive committee in Feni, following a high-profile scandal that compromised the organisation’s public standing. The expulsion was triggered by the widespread online circulation of a video showing the local politician in an inappropriate situation with a resident from his home sub-district.

The official directive was formalised through a press bulletin signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, Joint General Secretary (Office In-charge) of the Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee. The statement confirmed that Saiful Islam’s primary membership has been revoked and he has been permanently removed from all organisational tiers with immediate effect.

The central leadership confirmed that the disciplinary action was endorsed directly by Jubo Dal Central Committee President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan. The central executive committee made it clear that the organisation takes no accountability for any personal misdeeds committed by the individual. In addition, party directives have instructed all committee members and grassroots activists to immediately cease any political or organisational interaction with the former leader.

The controversy stems from an incident on 29 July, when Saiful Islam was reportedly discovered in an compromising position with a woman at an apartment located in Chattogram metropolitan area. Reports indicate that the woman involved is married to an expatriate hailing from the Sonagazi region of Feni. Video footage documenting the event was subsequently leaked on social media platforms, sparking severe public backlash and local indignation.

In light of the mounting public scrutiny, local party representatives confirmed that prompt action was necessary to preserve institutional integrity. Speaking on the matter, Feni District Jubo Dal Member Secretary Naim Ullah Chowdhury affirmed that the central command moved decisively due to explicit evidence of conduct contrary to the organisation’s values and ethical codes.

Efforts to obtain a formal statement or rebuttal from Saiful Islam or the woman involved were unsuccessful prior to publication.
