The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a strict warning against any activities by Hizb ut-Tahrir, a banned organization, emphasizing that such actions are punishable under Bangladesh’s anti-terrorism laws.
In a press release issued today, Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman reminded the public that the Bangladesh government officially banned Hizb ut-Tahrir on October 22, 2009, citing it as a threat to national security.
Under the Anti-Terrorism Act-2009, any form of gatherings, processions, distribution of posters or leaflets, or promotional activities by banned groups is a criminal offense.
The DMP has warned that if Hizb ut-Tahrir or any other banned outfit attempts to hold meetings, rallies, or engage in any publicity efforts, authorities will take strict legal action against them.
