At least one person has been killed and multiple structures—including a school and a shop—have caught fire following a series of Russian missile strikes on Kyiv early Monday, according to city officials.

The full extent of the structural damage is yet to be assessed. Emergency services were dispatched to extinguish the blazes and secure affected areas.
The strikes occur amidst a renewed attempt by Ukraine to initiate peace talks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently revealed that Kyiv had proposed a fresh round of negotiations with Moscow.
So far, two earlier rounds of talks in Istanbul have failed to deliver any progress toward a ceasefire. These previous meetings only produced outcomes such as large-scale prisoner exchanges and repatriation agreements for fallen soldiers.
