Bodies of Three Killed in Gopalganj Clash Exhumed on Court Order

Following a court directive, the bodies of three individuals who were killed in a recent clash in Gopalganj have been exhumed for post-mortem examination. The exhumation began at 1:00 PM today (Monday, 21 July) at the Miapara Municipal Graveyard in Gopalganj town, where the bodies of Imon Talukder and Ramzan Kazi were retrieved.

After exhumation, both bodies were sent to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The exhumation was supervised by Executive Magistrates Russell Munshi and Ronti Poddar, along with officials from the Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Also present were Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations), Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Mir Sajedur Rahman, Sub-Inspectors Murad and Shahidul Islam, members of APBn, and local journalists.

Simultaneously, the body of Sohel Rana Molla was exhumed from the Tungipara graveyard in Gopalganj.

Background of the Incident:

  • A clash took place last Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
  • The deceased were buried without autopsies.
  • On Thursday night, Ramzan Munshi, who was injured in the clash, died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka.
  • His body underwent a post-mortem the following day at Dhaka Medical College morgue.

Sub-Inspectors Murad Hossain and Shahidul Islam from Gopalganj Sadar Police Station prepared the inquest reports and transferred the bodies for post-mortem examination.

Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any untoward incidents, and intelligence surveillance is ongoing. Authorities confirmed that the law and order situation remains stable.

The three exhumed bodies are expected to be reburied later today following completion of the post-mortem procedures.
