Kazi Ahsan Khalil, the Managing Director (MD) of Meghna Bank, has tendered his resignation after serving for only 15 months. The resignation was formally submitted on Sunday, and a copy was also sent to the Bangladesh Bank.
Khalil, who joined the bank in April 2023 under a three-year contract, decided to resign after the newly formed Board of Directors attempted to place him on leave without providing any explanation. He declined the directive and opted to resign voluntarily.
“The new board suddenly attempted to send me on leave without citing any reason. I did not accept that, and instead submitted my resignation. If Bangladesh Bank investigates, it will uncover much more,” said Kazi Ahsan Khalil.

A senior official of the Bangladesh Bank confirmed that they have received Khalil’s resignation and will proceed with formal evaluation.
