A former general secretary of the Cumilla South District unit of the Olamadol was reportedly detained and questioned by local residents after he allegedly entered his rented home in Dhulipara, an area near the EPZ Road in Cumilla, with a woman.
The incident reportedly took place at around 10pm on Sunday, 30 August. A video purportedly showing the incident has since circulated on social media, drawing attention to the matter locally.
According to residents, Maulana Zakir Hossain entered the rented property accompanied by a woman at about 10pm. They said none of his family members was present at the house at the time. Finding the circumstances suspicious, several residents reportedly stopped him and questioned him about the woman’s presence and the reason for their visit.
Residents also alleged that various items which they described as being associated with commercial sex work were recovered from the woman. However, these claims have not been independently verified. There has also been no confirmed statement from the police or other law-enforcement authorities regarding the alleged recovery or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The video circulating on social media appears to show local residents questioning Hossain about why he had entered the house with the woman late at night. In the footage, he can reportedly be heard saying that the woman had come to meet him for personal reasons.
The circumstances depicted in a social media video, however, do not by themselves establish the truth of the allegations. The identities and circumstances of the people involved, as well as the claims concerning the alleged items, would require independent verification from the relevant authorities.
Local residents said that after the questioning, Hossain left the area. They also claimed that his whereabouts were subsequently unknown. It remains unclear whether any formal complaint was lodged over the incident or whether law-enforcement authorities initiated any investigation.
When contacted for his response, Hossain, who previously served as general secretary of the Cumilla South District Olamadol, declined to provide details. He said he did not wish to comment on the matter and referred those asking about it to listen carefully to the video circulating on social media.
The incident has generated discussion among residents, particularly because of the late-night visit and the subsequent questioning. Nevertheless, the allegations remain unverified, and no official account has yet been established to clarify what took place inside the rented property.
