The missing child, Nusrat Jahan, resides with her family in a rented apartment in the area. Her father, Md Tajel, works as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver. According to her parents, Nusrat was playing in front of their residence at around 4:30 pm on Thursday when she suddenly disappeared. After failing to locate her despite extensive local searches, the family formally lodged a general diary (GD) at Kafrul Police Station on Friday.

Confirming the matter, Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Saiful Islam stated that officers responded swiftly upon receiving the report at around 9:00 pm on Thursday. By 10:00 pm, police teams began retrieving security camera footage from commercial and residential establishments surrounding the scene of the incident.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained from an alley adjacent to the Health Lab Diagnostic Centre in East Shewrapara provided crucial leads. The footage depicts Nusrat playing alongside other children before an unidentified young woman wearing a black kamiz approaches her. The woman holds Nusrat’s hand, walks her out of the alley, and boards a manual rickshaw, heading towards the nearby Baltala area.

The discovery prompted immediate law enforcement intervention across several parts of Dhaka. Police units conducted late-night drives in prospective locations, including the Bhasantek slum and Mohammadpur, to trace the suspect and recover the child.

Though initial searches produced no immediate breakthroughs, police confirmed that multiple specialized units and intelligence teams are coordinating efforts to identify the suspect shown in the CCTV footage, trace the rickshaw’s route, and ensure the safe return of the victim.
