Police in Faridpur have launched a murder investigation following the gruesome discovery of an unidentified man’s dismembered remains packed inside three cardboard boxes left alongside the Dhaka-Khulna Highway.
The victim, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years of age, was discovered around midday on Saturday in the Boalia area under Raiptur Union in Madhukhali Upazila. Local pedestrians alerted the authorities after noticing three abandoned, tightly sealed cartons by the roadside emitting a foul odour.
Officers from Madhukhali Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after 12:30 pm and cordoned off the area. Upon opening the discarded boxes, law enforcement officials uncovered six severed sections of the victim’s body. The gruesome nature of the disposal suggests a meticulously planned attempt to conceal the crime and hamper initial identification efforts.
Police Superintendent Sukdeb Roy, Officer-in-Charge of Madhukhali Police Station, confirmed the recovery and stated that forensic teams, including the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), are actively working to establish the victim’s identity through fingerprint analysis and biometric databases.
Following the initial inquest at the site, officers dispatched the remains to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for a detailed post-mortem examination. Detectives suspect the murder was committed elsewhere before the remains were transported and abandoned along the high-traffic arterial route. Extensive drives are currently under way across neighbouring districts to trace missing person reports and identify those responsible for the killing.
