The discovery was initially made at around 7:00 am by local residents in Ward 2 of Dikrirchar Union, who spotted a human form floating motionless along the riverbank. Noticing that the body was weighed down and wedged against shoreline debris, villagers alerted law enforcement officers.

A team from the C&B Ghat River Police swiftly secured the perimeter and pulled the body ashore. Police sources described the victim as a woman aged approximately 35, wearing a traditional maxi and scarf (orna). Crucially, investigators found heavy construction materials—including a cement block and several bricks—firmly bound to her waist and chest using her scarf.

Forensic teams from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrived at the scene shortly after to assist with evidence collection. However, severe post-mortem decomposition made biometric identification impossible, as officers could not extract usable fingerprints from the skin tissue. As a result, the identity of the deceased woman remains unconfirmed.

Sharing initial findings, Sub-Inspector (SI) Tapan Kumar Saha of C&B Ghat River Police stated that the crime appears to have been a calculated homicide executed roughly a week prior. Investigators suspect the perpetrators murdered the woman elsewhere before weighting her body with concrete and submerging it in the river to conceal the crime. Over time, natural decomposition caused gases to build up inside the body, ultimately forcing the corpse to float to the surface alongside the anchored weights before drifting into the shallow waters at Kabirpur.

The remains have been transferred to the morgue at Faridpur Medical College Hospital for a comprehensive autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, river police authorities are reviewing missing person reports across neighboring districts and completing legal formalities to file a formal murder case.
