Music enthusiasts in Dhaka are preparing for a long-awaited spectacle as the highly anticipated ‘Wave Fest’ secures a new date, featuring the celebrated Pakistani band Kaavish alongside two of Bangladesh’s leading musical acts, Shironahin and Meghdol. Organized by Prime Wave Communication, the event—titled ‘Wave Fest: Enjoy the Full Moon’—is scheduled to take place on 26 September.
The journey to this stage has been fraught with delays. Originally scheduled for 5 December last year under the banner ‘Wave Fest: Feel the Winter’, the concert was abruptly postponed at the eleventh hour. Prevailing nationwide instability at the time prevented the organisers from securing the necessary official clearances, forcing a ten-month pause on the production.
Confirmation of the new date was announced via Prime Wave Communication’s official social media channels. However, details regarding the venue remain strictly under wraps. Citing security protocols and logistical precautions, the team assured fans that the specific location within the capital will be disclosed closer to the event date.
To accommodate fans who retained their passes from the cancelled December date, the organisers confirmed that previously purchased tickets will remain fully valid. Meanwhile, fresh ticket sales launched on the online platform Tickify over the weekend. Standard admission tickets are priced at BDT 2,999, whilst VIP passes are available for BDT 5,499.
This performance marks another chapter in Kaavish’s growing relationship with Bangladeshi audiences. Formed in 1998 by Jaffer Zaidi and Maaz Maudood, the Lahore-based semi-classical outfit has garnered a significant international following through its soulful melodies and distinct compositions. Since releasing their debut album Gunkali in 2009, tracks such as Bachpan, Tere Pyar Mein, More Sayaan, Nindiya Re, and Faasle have cemented their status across South Asia.
Sharing the platform with the Pakistani headliners are Shironahin and Meghdol, both of whom have maintained active schedules. Meghdol recently gained attention for their performance in Kolkata at the ‘Megher Shongge Chander Dekha’ concert, where they shared the stage with West Bengal’s renowned band Chandrabindoo, alongside releasing their track Mulluk on Coke Studio Bangla. Concurrently, Shironahin continues an extensive domestic touring schedule, backed by the release of their recent single, Shopner Ticket.
Despite the venue remaining undisclosed, ticket sales and online engagement suggest widespread enthusiasm for the upcoming show.
