Under the direct supervision of Humayun Kabir Khondakar, Deputy Director of the DNC Manikganj District Office, a specialized team led by Sub-Inspector Md Jamal Hossain executed the operation. Acting on credible intelligence regarding illicit drug activities, officers raided Ashik’s home at approximately 2:15 pm. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of two kilograms of packaged cannabis concealed inside the dwelling. DNC personnel detained the suspect at the scene and confiscated the narcotics as material evidence.

Local residents revealed that Ashik had been operating as an active narcotics vendor in the area for a considerable period. Concerns had been growing among neighbours regarding his illegal activities, which reportedly attracted youth from surrounding villages to the locality. Community members expressed relief following the raid, noting that open drug peddling posed a serious threat to the local environment and the well-being of young people.

Following the arrest, the DNC initiated a formal criminal case against Ashik under the Narcotics Control Act at Manikganj Sadar Police Station. Law enforcement officials confirmed that preliminary investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the seized cannabis and identify potential supply networks operating within the district. Authorities underscored that anti-narcotics drives across Manikganj will continue rigorously to curb the illegal drug trade and maintain public order. The suspect remains in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
