According to investigative sources, the survivor, a resident of West Choukidekhi in Sylhet Sadar, boarded Rahman’s CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Chondipul at approximately 8:00 pm on 14 July, intending to travel to Chhatak. En route, Rahman stopped at a local market under the pretext of purchasing household items. He then convinced the victim to accompany him briefly to drop off the goods at his residence, diverting the vehicle to a deserted house in Alamnagar, situated within the Alangkari Union of Bishwanath Upazila.

Upon arriving at the secluded location around 9:30 pm, Rahman’s accomplices—who were waiting at the site—confronted the vehicle. The men forcibly dragged the passenger into an abandoned room, where she was subjected to a brutal gang rape. Before fleeing the scene, the perpetrators robbed the victim of her mobile phone, national identity card, cash, and handbag, leaving her injured in the isolated building.

Following the ordeal, the survivor lodged a formal case alleging gang rape and robbery at Sarail Police Station in Brahmanbaria. SRB-9 subsequently launched a shadow investigation, deploying digital tracking to monitor the prime suspect’s movements as he fled Sylhet to hide in the capital.

KM Shahidul Islam Sohag, Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) at SRB-9, confirmed that Rahman admitted his direct involvement in the assault during initial interrogation. Authorities have handed the suspect over to the relevant police station to facilitate legal proceedings, whilst operations continue to identify and apprehend the remaining accomplices involved in the crime.
