For nearly a decade, music production houses across Bangladesh have steadily abandoned the traditional practice of releasing full-length solo audio albums. The shift towards single music videos and digital streaming tracks effectively brought an end to an era that once defined the country’s music industry. Attempting to reignite that forgotten tradition, production label Dhruba Music Station (DMS) is set to release singer Kazi Shuvo’s new solo digital album, titled Keu Bujhlo Na, on 28 September.
The upcoming album features nine distinct tracks designed to offer listeners a diverse musical experience. A wide array of lyricists contributed to the project, including Tarun Munshi, the late Pagol Hasan, A Mizan, Jisan Khan Shuvo, Salahuddin Shagar, Humayun Kabeer, Arif Hossen Babu, Alamin Sarkar, and Hanif Khan. Melodies for the tracks were composed by Tarun Munshi, the late Pagol Hasan, Kazi Shuvo, Jisan Khan Shuvo, Humayun Kabeer, Alamin Sarkar, Ahmed Sajeeb, Adib Kabir, and Hanif Khan. The overall musical arrangements were handled by Rafi Mohammad, Ahmed Sajeeb, and Adib Kabir. Additionally, singer Badhon Sarker Puja features alongside Kazi Shuvo on one of the album’s duet tracks.
Kazi Shuvo expressed his enthusiasm regarding the release, noting that bringing out a complete solo project after many years holds immense personal significance. He acknowledged the commercial risks involved in releasing a full album amidst current market challenges, commending Dhruba Music Station for taking the bold step to support pure audio production. The project marks Shuvo’s sixth career solo album. He debuted in 2009 with his hit album Shada Mata, which also comprised nine songs, before releasing subsequent hit records such as Shada Mata – 2, Shada Mata – 3, Mayar Agun, and Daga.
Dhruba Guha, musician and head of Dhruba Music Station, highlighted the broader vision behind backing full-length studio albums. He emphasised that as visual media increasingly dominates the entertainment landscape, audio-centric projects remain essential to preserve the rich heritage and lyrical depth of Bengali music, especially for younger generations.
