The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ordered the transfer and reassignment of three Assistant Commissioners of Police across various divisions within the capital. The administrative move, aimed at streamlining operational efficiency and enhancing public service delivery, was formally announced on Sunday, 4 October.
According to an official order signed by Md Shahriar Ali, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters and Administration), the reassignments affect officers across the traffic, detective, and patrol divisions. Under the new command structure, Assistant Commissioner of Police Toaha Yasin Hossain, who was previously serving in the Traffic-New Market Zone of the Traffic-Ramna Division, has been posted to the Detective-Tejgaon Division. He will assume responsibility as the Assistant Commissioner overseeing the Organised Crime and Auto Theft Team.
In a corresponding administrative adjustment, Assistant Commissioner Md Malik Nazmul Haider, formerly overseeing Patrol-Khilgaon under the Motijheel Division, has been transferred to fill the vacancy in the Traffic-New Market Zone within the Traffic-Ramna Division. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Md Samsul Alam Khan, who was stationed at Patrol-Wari within the Wari Division, has been reassigned as the Assistant Commissioner for the Traffic-Lalbagh Zone under the Traffic-Lalbagh Division.
The directive explicitly states that these transfers have been executed in the public interest and will take immediate effect. Officers have been instructed to join their respective new postings without delay, remaining in these positions until further official orders are issued.
Routine administrative transfers of this nature are a standard practice within the police administration, designed to rotate personnel, optimise law enforcement capabilities, and adapt to evolving urban policing demands across Dhaka’s key administrative zones. By periodically redeploying experienced officers between specialised units—such as the Detective Branch, traffic management zones, and local patrol operations—the DMP seeks to maintain administrative vigour, enhance cross-departmental expertise, and address the dynamic security and traffic management challenges facing the metropolis.
