Bangladesh Bank Releases Foreign Exchange Rates for October 5

Bangladesh Bank has formally released the official foreign currency exchange rates for Monday, 5 October 2026, outlining the standard buying and selling figures for major international currencies against the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT).

The central bank’s published rate sheet serves as the pivotal benchmark for commercial banking institutions, cross-border trade settlements, and foreign remittance flows across the nation.

Key Currency Figures

Under the latest official rates, the United States Dollar (USD) is established at a buying rate of 122.85 BDT and a selling rate of 123.00 BDT. The British Pound Sterling (GBP) continues to hold a strong position, trading with a buying value of 162.67 BDT against a selling figure of 162.90 BDT. Meanwhile, the Euro (EUR) stands at 138.24 BDT for purchases and 138.42 BDT for sales.

Among regional and regional commercial trading partners:

  • Indian Rupee (INR): Bought and sold at a flat rate of 1.28 BDT.

  • Singapore Dollar (SGD): Quote stands at 95.98 BDT buying and 96.18 BDT selling.

  • Australian Dollar (AUD): Listed at 85.42 BDT buying and 85.57 BDT selling.

  • Chinese Yuan (CNY): Pegged at 18.32 BDT buying and 18.34 BDT selling.

  • Japanese Yen (JPY): Valued at 0.78 BDT for both buying and selling transactions.

Commercial Market Impact

Foreign exchange fluctuations remain a critical focal point for Bangladesh’s import-dependent sectors, migrant workers, and institutional investors. Central bank rates form the essential reference line that guides authorized dealers and money changers across the domestic market. Financial analysts recommend that travelers, expatriates sending home remittances, and import-export businesses consult verified institutional branches for real-time transaction spreads, as counter rates in commercial retail banks may incorporate minor market adjustments.
