An unidentified elderly man, believed to be around 60 years old, was found dead on Tuesday morning near the waiting area of the emergency department at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Hospital staff discovered the man lying unconscious close to the emergency unit’s waiting section at approximately 9:15 am. He was immediately rushed inside the facility for medical attention. However, following a preliminary examination, attending doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, DMCH Emergency Department Ward Master Ayyub Ali stated that the individual was already non-responsive when brought to the emergency ward. The hospital administration promptly notified the on-duty police outpost regarding the discovery.
Inspector Habiburb Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed that the body has been temporarily kept at the emergency department mortuary. Officers are currently utilizing automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS) and digital technology in coordination with law enforcement agencies to establish the deceased’s identity and trace his family members.
