Security Protocols Heightened for Khulna Police Officers Following Recent Attacks

Police personnel operating across four sub-districts in Khulna have been instructed to bolster their personal security and refrain from travelling alone at night, following a surge in targeted attacks against law enforcement officers.

The directive was formally issued on Friday by the District Special Branch (DSB) under the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Khulna. Circulated under memorandum number 5062, the official notice was dispatched directly to the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of Rupsha, Terokhada, Dighalia, and Botiaghata police stations. The order mandates the immediate implementation of safety measures for all personnel deployed on active duty, particularly those participating in ongoing special operations across these designated jurisdictions.

According to the official communication, the decision stems from a careful evaluation of recent intelligence indicating a worrying rise in terrorist attacks directed at security personnel. Law enforcement authorities noted that the overall security landscape necessitates heightened vigilance to prevent potential ambushes or isolated assaults on duty officers. The memorandum explicitly urges officers to avoid solo movements during night shifts and off-duty night hours, emphasizing collective patrols and strategic coordination instead.

The four targeted areas—Rupsha, Terokhada, Dighalia, and Botiaghata—are currently subject to intensive anti-crime operations aimed at curbing illicit activities and apprehending dangerous offenders. Joint operations and specialized drives in these sub-districts frequently expose officers to hostile environments, making individual officers vulnerable during transit or routine checks.

To mitigate these operational hazards, station commanders have been tasked with re-evaluating field deployments, ensuring that no officer is left isolated during night-time assignments or response calls. The police administration has reiterated that maintaining the safety of field force members remains paramount to ensuring the broader stability and public order of the region.
