Police Respond After Attack on Jatiya Party Leader’s Dhaka Home

The residence of Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader in Uttara, Dhaka, came under attack on Monday morning after a group of unidentified individuals threw bricks and stones at the property. The incident took place at around 10.40 am on 12 October, while Quader was inside the house. No injuries were reported, according to his press secretary, Shourya Dipta Surya.

Surya said the group targeted the residence with bricks and stones, prompting the authorities to be informed. Police arrived at the scene after receiving the report. However, details about the identity of the attackers, their motive and whether anyone had been detained were not immediately available.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of a prominent political leader and his residence. Quader’s presence at the house at the time of the attack added to the seriousness of the incident, although no physical injuries were reported.

Speaking about the party’s response, Surya said Jatiya Party would announce its next course of action in due time. He did not provide further details about any planned political or legal steps.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. There was no immediate confirmation of whether the incident was linked to political tensions, a personal dispute or another motive. Without further evidence, it would be premature to attribute responsibility to any individual or group.

A formal statement from the police, including information about the progress of any investigation, was not immediately available. It also remained unclear whether the authorities had identified any suspects or initiated specific legal proceedings in connection with the incident.

The investigation will be important in establishing how the attack unfolded, identifying those responsible and determining the reasons behind it. Any further action by the authorities or an official response from Jatiya Party could provide additional clarity.

For now, the information released by the party indicates that the attack involved the throwing of bricks and stones at Quader’s Uttara residence, that police were informed and arrived at the scene, and that no injuries were reported. The party is expected to communicate its next steps once a decision has been made.
