Wife Reveals Number of Ayub Bachchu’s Unreleased Songs

Around 200 unreleased songs by legendary Bangladeshi singer and guitarist Ayub Bachchu remain preserved, offering fans the chance to discover more of his musical legacy. His wife, Ferdous Akter Chandana, has announced that the songs will be released in phases.

Chandana shared the news at an event held at Celebration Community Point in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Sunday (18 October), marking the death anniversary of the celebrated musician.

She said nearly 200 songs by Bachchu had never been heard by the public and were currently held by the AB Foundation. The foundation plans to release the recordings gradually.

The announcement has generated fresh interest among Bachchu’s fans, many of whom continue to cherish his music years after his death. However, no specific release schedule or further details about the songs have been announced.

Ayub Bachchu died on 18 October 2018, aged 56. Born in Chattogram on 16 August 1962, he became one of the most influential figures in Bangladesh’s band music scene. He was widely admired for his distinctive voice, expressive guitar playing and contribution to the development of Bengali rock music.

Bachchu rose to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist of the band LRB. Alongside his success with the group, he established a strong reputation as a solo artist, releasing 16 solo albums during his career.

His notable solo albums include Rokto Golap, Moyna, Koshto, Shomoy, Eka, Prem Tumi Ki!, Pother Gaan and Jibon. He also worked as a playback singer, lending his voice to films across the course of his career.

Themes of love, heartbreak, loneliness and the complexities of life featured prominently in Bachchu’s music. His songs continue to resonate with listeners across generations, while his guitar work and distinctive musical style remain an enduring part of Bangladesh’s rock heritage.

The planned release of the unreleased recordings could offer listeners a rare opportunity to explore previously unheard aspects of his work. It may also help introduce his music to a new generation of fans.

Although Bachchu is no longer on stage, his songs continue to keep his legacy alive. The AB Foundation’s plans to release the recordings could bring audiences closer to the creative work he left behind.
