Police have arrested another suspect named Arman Hossain in the case of the stabbing murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur. With this arrest, a total of nine individuals have now been detained in connection with the murder.
Arrest Details
Arman was identified through CCTV footage and arrested on Monday night (11 August) from Uttara, Dhaka. The information was confirmed by Shahin Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Basan Police Station.
Incident Background
On the night of Thursday, around 8 pm, journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin (38) was brutally stabbed to death in front of the Chandana Chourasta Mosque Market in Gazipur city. He was a staff reporter for the daily Protidin newspaper in Gazipur. Tuhin hailed from Bhatipara village in Fulbaria Upazila of Mymensingh district.
Following the incident, Tuhin’s brother, Md. Selim, filed a murder case at Basan Police Station naming unknown suspects.
Police Investigation
According to police, the individual seen wearing a blue shirt in CCTV footage from the crime scene has been identified as Md. Arman. Acting on confidential information, police arrested Arman around midnight from Uttara. He has since been placed in police custody.
Family Meeting and Official Response
Tuhin’s wife and family members are scheduled to meet the Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police on Tuesday. Later at 3 pm, the police commissioner will address the media regarding the case.
