The Sunamganj Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Unit 28, has seized a substantial quantity of blazer fabric allegedly smuggled from India through the Sunamganj border, bypassing customs duties. The estimated market value of the seized goods stands at ৳1,470,000.
According to the BGB, the confiscation took place on Monday, 11 August, in Kandapara area of Banshikunda Union, under Madhyanagar Upazila of Sunamganj district. The fabric, totalling 2,100 metres, was found abandoned inside Bangladesh territory. It was later transported to the Banglabhita Border Outpost (BOP) for safekeeping.

Lieutenant Colonel A.K.M. Zakaria Kadir, Commanding Officer of Sunamganj Battalion (28 BGB), stated:
“Under the directive of the higher headquarters, BGB continues its operations and intelligence activities along the border to ensure security and curb smuggling.”
The BGB confirmed that surveillance and preventive measures remain ongoing in the Sunamganj border region to combat illegal cross-border trade.
