Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the BNP, is travelling to Bangkok, Thailand for eye treatment. Accompanying him is his wife, Rahat Ara Begum.
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, at around 11:15 am on Wednesday, 13 July.
Purpose of the Visit
According to Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, Fakhrul is visiting Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok for a follow-up consultation, as advised by his doctors. Previously, on 14 May, he underwent retina surgery at the same hospital.
Pre-Departure Meeting
Prior to his departure, on Tuesday night, Fakhrul met with BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at her residence, Firoza, in Gulshan, Dhaka.
