Director Vicky Zahed is a Psychopath: Nisho

A new web series titled “Aka” has been created, weaving together elements of mystery and the tangled threads of human relationships. For the first time, acclaimed director Vicky Zahed has ventured into the social thriller genre with this production.

On Monday afternoon, the trailer of the series was unveiled on the OTT platform Hoichoi, offering audiences a tantalising glimpse of an intense and suspense-filled storyline.

The trailer opens with a female voiceover: “The year was 1998 or perhaps 1999. Aka was killing criminals one after another. But suddenly, without explanation, Aka vanished into thin air.”

The gripping narrative introduces the enigmatic central character Aka, played by renowned actor Afran Nisho.

At the trailer launch event, Afran Nisho remarked: “I always want to be part of good stories and productions, no matter the medium. For me, the story is what truly matters. And if Vicky is the director, then there is nothing more to ask. In my eyes, he is a psychopath—a good man but mischievous. Our understanding is excellent.”

About his character, Nisho explained: “In this series, my role is Azad Abul Kalam, shortened as Aka. Although Vicky often works with violence, crime and bloodshed, every such scene in ‘Aka’ exists because the story demands it. Viewers won’t feel we have exaggerated anything. Alongside the thrills, there is also a deeply human, romantic story within ‘Aka’.”

Speaking about his creative direction, Vicky Zahed said:“I have worked on many thrillers before, but ‘Aka’ is my first social thriller. With this project, I conducted an experiment with the audience. Only after the release will we know how successful it has been.”

Actress Masuma Rahman Nabila, known for her role in Aynabaji, also plays a significant character in the series. She shared her admiration at the launch: “I am a huge admirer of Vicky Bhai’s work. He does remarkable work in the psycho-thriller genre. ‘Aka’ has turned out to be an outstanding project. I truly hope audiences will love it.”
