For the past two years, Kaushani Mukherjee, a prominent actress from Bengal, has been consistently working on one project after another. Earlier in her career, she faced periods when work was scarce. In a recent interview with Indian media, she spoke candidly about her struggles, current success, personal relationships, and future plans.
Kaushani reflected on the difficult early years of her career: “I’ve learned one thing in life — good or bad, nothing is constant. There were tough times, there were worries, but I never lost faith in myself. Now I feel that those hard times were a blessing. Without them, perhaps success would not have come. An artist needs immense patience, and with it, half the battle is already won.”
She elaborated on the industry’s transition period at the beginning of her career: “I’ve spent ten years in the industry. My early career coincided with a transitional phase. Back then, audiences were more drawn to unique or unconventional films than mainstream cinema. I felt I was going through a rough patch, but later realised that everything happens for a reason. My first film, Parb Na Ami Chharo Toke, turned out to be a tremendous success.”
Kaushani also discussed her long-standing relationship with actor Boni Sengupta, addressing questions about whether their careers ever caused friction: “There’s no insecurity in our lives. During my tough times, the person who held my hand the strongest was Boni.”
She further added: “I can’t say whether he’s going through a rough patch right now, but if difficult times come in the future, I will stand by him just as firmly. At the moment, he hasn’t received the right scripts, but he is deserving, dedicated, and hardworking. Good things will happen for him. Everyone needs a comeback in life — for example, I believe Raktabeej 2 will be a major comeback for Ankush.”
Kaushani emphasised the importance of perseverance and resilience in an artist’s life. She described the challenging early days as instrumental to her growth and credited her ability to endure as key to her current achievements.
